Girls...here are some of my very best memories of Granny Pa. Things I want you to remember. Stories that I will share with you as you grow. Lessons I hope to share with you during your childhood.
Dear Granny Pa:
My very first memories of you were in your kitchen. Me with one of your aprons tied around my 5 year old waist and you with yours on. Cooking. We always cooked. One day I read about "cream puffs" and I asked you what they were. Later that day we were making them. They were so yummy!
Every Thanksgiving we made "chocolate goo". We made Fried Pies for Daddy. On Sundays we make Buttermilk Pies and had Mom and Dad over. You are the kind of person that can taste something in a restaurant and go home and duplicated it...perfectly.
Your patience with me was amazing. I am sure I was a little too eager a time or two. Or didn't measure exactly at some point. But you never cared. You always smiled and helped me.
I remember going into your closet and dressing up. Sara and I would come out decked out in hats, dresses, shoes and you took pictures. Lots of them. You loved your camera. We have hours and hours of video that you took of us. Thank you for capturing us. Those are memories we will have for a lifetime. Ones we will be able to show our children.
Summer Lunches with you and Miss Lucille @ Swensen's. Their amazing bubble gum ice cream or the sundae's with the chocolate wafer cookies. Those lunches were so special to me and my sister. We always dressed up and lunch usually took about 2 hours and ended with you and Miss Lucille talking about how you shouldn't have eaten the ice cream. It was so funny.
I have more memories that I will save for another post. These are just a few that I wanted to share with you. Thank you for being an amazing, loving, caring Grandmother. I love you very, very much.
